Are you a passionate individual? Do you have great people skills and excel at relationship building? Do you enjoy working on a team and are a natural networker? Are you ready to change the world? Then we need you!

Help us grow our Walk to End Alzheimer's in Portland by joining a subcommittee on our 2017 planning committee! We have an opportunity for everyone. We are looking for individuals to assist with our Marketing and Outreach team, our Team Recruitment Team, Sponsorship Team, our Mission Team, and Team Retention. See descriptions below. Subcommittee's meet monthly to report on their projects. Help us walk toward a world without Alzheimer's Disease.

Sponsorship

The Walk Sponsorship Chair and subcommittee serves as the primary lead for recruiting new sponsors to the event as well as strengthening relationships with existing sponsors. This position also works to identify opportunities to engage the business community in the mission of the Alzheimer Association’s through Walk. The Walk Sponsorship Chair and subcommittee will be responsible for engaging sponsors in all Walk activities.

Team Recruitment

The Walk Team Recruitment Chair and subcommittee will be responsible for recruitment of new Walk teams and the New Team Kickoff event. The Walk Team Recruitment Chair will assemble a committee that can recruit new Walk teams from all sectors of the community and coach the new teams to fundraise through calls with team captains. The committee should be organized so that each committee member is responsible for recruiting a specific number of new teams, and coming up with prospects to invite to the New Team Kickoff event, which is held two months prior to the Walk date. New teams can be friends and family teams, small business teams, corporate teams, or organization teams!

Team Retention

The Walk Team Retention Chair and subcommittee will be responsible for retaining prior Walk teams and helping them re-register for the Walk. Each Team Retention Subcommittee member should be responsible for cultivating and retaining a specific number of teams through making a series of engagement calls to past team captains. This position will work year-round on team retention strategies including planning and executing the Past Team Captain Kick-Off held four months prior to the Walk and the Walk Celebration Party held two months after the Walk.

Marketing and Outreach

The Walk Marketing and Outreach Chair and subcommittee is responsible for creating awareness and promotion of the event. The Walk Marketing and Outreach Chair and subcommittee will ensure collateral distribution takes place across the community and help in building public awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association through the promotion of Walk to End Alzheimer’s through locating tabling opportunities, helping at tabling events, and finding clever ways to "paint the town purple" through point of purchase flower sales, donation canisters, and other creating awareness ideas.

Mission

The Walk Mission Chair and subcommittee is responsible for mission and public policy activities at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s including the Promise Garden. The Walk Mission Chair and subcommittee is also responsible for connecting the community, teams and team members to the mission throughout the Walk to End Alzheimer’s season. They also serve as the primary lead for identifying opportunities to engage Walk participants in advocacy efforts before, during and post-event.

From its offices in Portland, Bend and Medford, the Oregon Chapter provides education and support for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families and caregivers. In addition, it offers local support groups, early-stage engagement programs, community education classes and a 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900).
