The Georgia chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is seeking applicants for our Board of Directors. Term of office is 3 years, from April 2017 to April 2020. Anyone can apply. We are looking for candidates who are professional, ethical, reliable and even fun! The mission of NAMI Georgia is to empower affiliates to create communities where all affected by mental illnesses find hope, help, and acceptance through SUPPORT, EDUCATION and ADVOCACY. Special skills such as public policy and advocacy, nonprofit law, fundraising, marketing and human resources experience are desirable. The deadline to apply is February 20th at 5pm. The mission of NAMI Georgia is to promote recovery and optimize the quality of life for Georgian’s affected by mental illness through support, education, advocacy, and research.
Description
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.
Our chapters, or Affiliates, offer regular Support Group Meetings for those with a diagnosis, and for their family and friends. These groups provide a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope. They also provide Education Classes for those with a diagnosis, and for their family and friends.
