Sea History's Guide to Maritime Programs
Published 2004

The National Maritime Historical Society is doing an updated online edition to its Sea History Guide to Maritime Programs and Cultural Sites, originally published in 2004. There are a total of 60 or so sites that we need to confirm and/or update information on (background summary, location info, program info and an image). Most of what we need will be online, and we’ve estimated each location's page to take an hour or so to update. Our deadline for this phase of the project is 2/16/17, although work will continue through the end of April 2017. Work can be done on location at our headquarters in Peekskill, NY, or virtually online/email/phone. The work schedule is completely flexible.

Your help would be greatly appreciated! We would like to acknowledge your assistance with an official letter from our president, your named credited in the online published guide, and an NMHS cap or similar gift of your choice. We are always looking for volunteers, so if you’d like to participate in any other activities in the future, or know anyone who might, let us know!

Description

About the National Maritime Historical Society

The National Maritime Historical Society is a not for-profit membership organization founded in 1963 whose mission is to raise awareness of our nation’s maritime heritage and the role seafaring has played in shaping civilization - through publications, educational programs, the preservation of historic ships, sail training, and maritime conferences, partnerships and events that celebrate outstanding contributions to our heritage.

The voice of the National Maritime Historical Society is Sea History magazine. With a readership of approximately 45,000, each issue carries fascinating articles about key events and people in our maritime past and the stories of everyday sailors past and present, news of marine archaeology, features on marine art, updates on historic and significant ships in danger of disappearing forever, as well as reviews of the latest books in the field, a calendar of maritime events, museum news and even a section devoted to younger readers.
