DEVELOPMENT GOAL

To create, coordinate and monitor a plan to raise funds that will cover a significant percent of the organization’s annual budgeted expenses.

CHAIRPERSON OR CO-CHAIRPERSONS

The Development Chairperson or Co-Chairpersons are members of the Board of Directors. The Co-chairs decide between themselves as to the delegation of co-chair responsibilities.

ROLE OF CHAIRPERSONS OR CO-CHAIRPERSONS

Budget

  1. Gather information to provide projected income and expenses related to fundraising activities for the organization.

  2. Present information to Board of Directors at budget planning time prior to the beginning of each fiscal year.

  3. Provide updates and reports for Board meetings.

Personnel

  1. Coordinate personnel in structured fund-raising efforts for the organization.

  2. Coordinate responsibilities of the paid Development Consultant. Monitor consultant billings in comparison to plan, confirm with Board President & Treasurer and approve invoices for payment.

  3. In conjunction with the WS Volunteer Coordinator, gather/recruit volunteers and coordinate their preferred placement in various fundraising efforts.

Meetings

  1. Schedule and lead 2 to 4 all-Development meetings per year.

  2. Attend approximately 6 Board meetings per year. Provide and present Board reports, including any updates relating to Development efforts and finances.

  3. Lead, or appoint sub-committee leaders, to hold meetings for specific areas such as Sponsorships and Major gifts, Grant-seeking, or special events

Personal Fundraising

Participate in and encourage contributing funds to WS as personal circumstances allow.

Since 1965 WomenSing has engaged and delighted audiences in the Bay Area and beyond. Their reputation for excellence draws members from the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Singing with a vibrant and beautifully blended sound, WomenSing programs include both the traditional and the unexpected, featuring great landmarks of the treble repertoire, seldom-performed works, new music, commissions from nationally recognized composers, and familiar music from all eras. Performances include rewarding collaborations with major performing groups such as San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, Jubilate Orchestra, California Shakespeare Theatre, Dimensions Dance Theater of Oakland, Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choirs, and Contra Costa Children’s Chorus and the finest Bay Area musicians.
