Hello Volunteers!

People in Oakland County partner with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County to build or improve a place they can call home. No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to have a decent life. We deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures.

Habitat Oakland County homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

There are three options for construction: new home construction, critical home repair in partnership with existing homeowners, and home renovations on properties. No experience necessary!

Our volunteer build days are typically Monday through Friday, and an occasional Saturday, from 8:30am - 3:30pm. We build year-round, rain, snow or shine.

To see the list of construction projects, please visit the volunteer opportunities page of our website and select any available project by clicking on the "sign up" button.

Please contact the volunteer department if you have any questions. Your support will help us achieve our goal of helping 2015 low income families by 2015. You are not simply building homes - you are building dreams!

About Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County

Location:

150 Osmun Street, Pontiac, MI 48342, US

Mission Statement

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Description

Mission principles:

  • Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
We undertake our work to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus, acting in all ways in accord with the belief that God’s love and grace abound for all, and that we must be "hands and feet" of that love and grace in our world.
  • Focus on shelter.
We create opportunities for all people to live in safe, decent, affordable homes. We partner with others to help build, renovate or preserve homes, with the hope to accelerate and broaden access to affordable housing and break the cycle of poverty.
  • Advocate for affordable housing.
We promote decent, affordable housing for all, and we support the global community’s commitment to housing as a basic human right. We advocate for just and fair housing policy to eliminate the constraints that contribute to poverty housing.
  • Promote dignity and hope.
We believe that no one lives in dignity until everyone can live in dignity. We believe that every person has something to contribute and something to gain from creating communities in which all people have decent, affordable places to live.
  • Support sustainable and transformational development.
We view our work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting social, economic and spiritual change within a community.
