The mission of local community chapters of Operation Supply Drop, The Teams is to build active groups of active duty, Veterans and Civilian supporters devoted to giving back through support at the community level. This support comes through volunteerism, events, and support groups where individuals from different walks of life can relax, have fun, affect others and be accepted around a shared purpose.
Description
Teams are semi-autonomous local community chapters of active-duty, Veterans and civilian supporters working to affect the lives of Veterans and their families. Teams are self motivated groups that develop, plan and execute "Mandatory Fun" events that engage their local community in a positive manner. Teams work closely with local businesses, other Veteran organizations and companies to help with growth and sustainability. Teams also have a social media presence which allows teams members to stay engaged even when events are not occurring. Each local community team is different, made up and directed by individuals, but all maintain the consistent message of OSD in which Veterans are our passion.
Position: Team Leader Gainesville, FL
This position is open to active-duty, Veterans and Civilian supporters. Team leaders help establish, manage and lead a presence inside of a local community. Their goal is to expand the team and build a group of active-duty, Veteran and civilian supporters that are out engaging the local community through volunteerism, support or during social events.
Team leaders develop and foster relations with local businesses and corporate organizations; develop, plan and execute at least one Mandatory Fun event for their team a month; administer various local chapter social media pages while posting engaging content; connect with other Veteran Support Organizations (VSO’s) and assist with volunteering or making an impact locally; establish relationships with local military installations and provide on-base support at events, recreation centers or during Supply Drops; mentor and coach Veterans and civilian supporters on non-profit leadership; assist local businesses and companies with fundraising events to support OSD.
