Join us for an afternoon of repackaging and sorting food at Food Lifeline. As a volunteer, you will help repack bulk donations into family size portions. Volunteers may also be asked to assist in Fresh Rescue! Your hard work will help feed people and their families throughout Western Washington.

Our Nonprofit Partner that this event supports: Food Lifeline

Why you are needed: Founded in 1979, Food Lifeline, works with the food industry and its surpluses, to come up with creative solutions for stopping hunger, including redirecting good food from manufacturers, farmers, grocery stores and restaurants that might otherwise go to waste.

Food Lifeline provides 88,000 meals a day to local food assistance programs to create a sustainable approach to stopping hunger.

Age Requirement: 18+

Event Sherpa: Annie Tollefson

What to bring: A water bottle is always a good idea and you may want to bring a snack. There will be space to store your belongings

What to wear: Wear something comfortable as you will be on your feet for the shift. Close-toed shoes are required, no exceptions. Dress in layers as the warehouse is not climate controlled.

Space is limited! Once you register for the event we will hold a space just for you. If for any reason you cannot attend your scheduled shift, please make sure to cancel your registration so someone else can take your spot!

Mission Statement

The World is Fun (TWIF) is dedicated to making volunteering fun & social for Seattle people, businesses & nonprofits by creating, promoting and expanding charitable events.

Description

We’re not your grandparents’ charitable club. We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization here to make volunteering a fun and social experience for Seattle people, businesses, and nonprofits. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scope of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun!

TWIF works within Seattle communities to create new opportunities for people to give back in a way that is social and philanthropic. We connect people to volunteer activities that fit each individual’s interests, passions, and busy schedules while introducing them to a new network of friends.
