Support Group Leader in Jackson, CA

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: The Western Neuropathy Association

The Western Neuropathy Association starts and develops support groups in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Texas. The groups meet monthly except for December and sometimes one or two summer months. The Leader chooses the time available that works for them, promotes it, plans and leads the meeting with help from others in the Leadership Team if these are available or recruited, books speakers from time to time, and operates in an upbeat manner with no pity parties or gossip. Training and support information and help is available as it is a network with the support of the Board of Directors and clerical help. This will be a new group. We hope that groups can start meeting in person in September or October of 2021.

Mission Statement

Hope through caring and education - Our mission is to provide support, information and referral to people with neuropathy and to those who care about them, to inform and connect with the health care community and to support research. We need people to serve as group leaders in many communities in the Western States west of the Rocky Mountains.

Description

We are a California Non Profit Public Benefit Corporation which IRS deems to be tax exempt. We major in starting and developing support groups for people with peripheral neuropathy and those who care about them. In the process we endeavor to make connections with the health care community to better serve our members and to inform the health care community about "this mst common disease you've never heard of." With approximately 2 million people in California suffering from neuropathy, it is amazing how many people have never heard about it. Many know someone with the symptoms but may not know there is a name for this. We are led by a Board of Directors now numbering 6. These people have a variety of skills and contually upgrade the organization.
