The Emergency Food Network ("EFN") is seeking an Outreach Chair, skilled in social media and working with the press, to promote the EFN to the greater Charlottesville/Albemarle community and help distinguish us from the area's other food pantries by highlighting the many strengths that make our nonprofit unique. The volunteer position should take about 5 hours per month and its tasks include:
- Social media: post to Facebook frequently, with news about the EFN and hunger in the community.
- Newsletter: work with board members for articles and input. Mailed newsletter to go out 1-2 times per year.
- E-Newsletter: this will be emailed quarterly, using Mail Chimp or Constant Contact, to all volunteers and any donors whose email address we have.
- Press Release: distribute quarterly or as newsworthy items occur, to increase awareness of the EFN in our community.
- Website: update as needed.
Please send inquiries to Kimberly at kimberly.emergencyfood@gmail.com.

Mission Statement
The Emergency Food Network is a volunteer organization that provides a 3-day food supply to individuals and families exclusively in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area who find themselves in an emergency without food.
Description
The Emergency Food Network is a nonprofit that has provided food for the needy since 1973. This year we celebrate 45 years of continuous service to the Charlottesville/Albemarle community. We provide a 3-day supply of balanced food, which includes staples as well as milk, cheese, margarine and bread. Our clients also may choose from a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables each day. We have no income requirements and do not submit our clients to an onerous list of questions; they simply register with us and then are eligible for food as frequently as once per month.
We have a working board of over 20 members, including an executive committee and specific job areas such as the purchase of food, volunteer coordinators, outreach, dietary specifications and record-keeping. We have over 100 volunteers, and just one employee, a part-time Office Manager.
