  • 19 people are interested

Casa de la Familia partners with two divisions of the Los Angeles Police Department as part of the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART), a specialized unit assigned to provide immidiate crisis response and follow-ups to domestic violence survivors. Our DART Program is currently seeking to fulfill intern/volunteer positions available to provide crisis intervention, case management services, safety planning, shelter placements, court accompaniment, and referrals for counseling to survivors of domestic violence.

Program participants are expected to commit a minimum of 8 hours per week for 1 year after successfully completing a state-certified 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate training provided by Casa de la Familia. Hours will be established between the intern, the supervisor, and the program director with consideration to the intern/volunteers' schedule and the needs of survivors. DART will also work closely with interns to fulfill school requirements, if applicable.

In addition to the requirements described above, interns must:

  • Be at least 18 years-old
  • Complete and pass a LAPD Background check
  • Have a valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and insurance coverage
