About

MAJOR FUNCTION

The Medical Director of Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine provides, supervises, assesses, and assures the delivery of quality medical care to clinic patients based on evidence-based practice. The Medical Director actively supports and incorporates the mission and values of the clinic into daily activities. He/she works collaboratively with the Executive Director, staff and volunteers on the provision of medical care at the clinic. The Medical Director treats all others with respect and demonstrates excellence, justice and compassion in work and relationships and others. This is a part-time, flex position with details to be negotiated with interested candidates.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Current Licensed Physician (MD, DO) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in leading teams, operations, and quality improvement
  • Ability to mentor and coach; aptitude to serve as a role model
  • Spanish Speaker desirable, but not required

ESSENTIAL CLINICAL DUTITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures overall supervision of Medical Providers and Medical Records
  • Assesses and assures the quality and scope of medical and other health services
    • Co-Chairs the Medical Operations Advisory Committee
    • Develops and updates pharmaceutical formulary & Rx samples; refills Rx’s
    • Supervises staff for follow-up on critical labs, abnormal imaging, and consultation reports or delegate
    • Depending on schedule, sees patients as needed.

COMMUNITY HEALTH PARTNERSHIP DUTIES

  • Helps sustain clinical partnerships (e.g., PWFH, Legacy Labs, Eye Health, Oregon Clinic GI)

ORGANIZATIONAL AND LEADERSHIP DUTIES

  • With staff, screens potential Medical Providers; determine clinical privileges
  • Supervises and/or performs FTCA application and renewals every two years
  • Is the recognized individual on documents that require a Medical Director approval (e.g., FTCA, PWFH, imaging orders, Legacy Lab orders, SureScripts prescriptions refills)
  • Oversees the development and revisions to medical policies and procedures when needed
  • Signs-off on policies and care directives
  • Non-voting member of the Board of Directors
