Purpose: Complete special property projects that enhance the community environment and utilize the skills of individual(s) interested in donating manual labor
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of labor skills: painting, building, demolition, remodeling, repairs
- Knowledge of safe use of power and hand tools
- Knowledge of principles of lifting and carrying heavy objects
- Physical strength and ability to work in a manual setting with limited concern of injury
- Know how to recognize potentially dangerous situations
- Ability to manage project/workers to completion of project
Responsibilities:
- Sign in and out in the volunteer log every visit
- Receive project specific instructions from volunteer supervisor
- Ask for clarification before starting all projects
- Protect work crew and residents at all times
- Maintain a safe environment while working
- Provide hydration, shade and breaks for working crew
- Keep area clean and safe during work and at completion of the project
- Keep entrances and exits free of debris and clutter
- Immediately report any injury, fall or change in condition of a volunteer, staff or resident to your supervisor - assist with any incident report as necessary
- Return equipment to storage area
Time Commitment:
- This position may be a one-time visit of 2-8 hours
- Potential for ongoing scheduled visits to assist with property maintenance/beautification 1-4 hours/week or month
