Uptown Entertainment and Development Corp is working to reopen the Uptown Theater on North Broad Street in Philadelphia. We are seeking volunteers to enter data into our contact lists. This process can be worked on either at our office or at your home.
UPTOWN Radio is now on the air in North Philly from 3 pm to 3 am. Tune to 98.5 on your FM dial. Your work on our lists will help promote the radio station. http://www.philadelphiauptownradio.org/
This work can be done at your convenience and doesn't require a specific committment of time.

Mission Statement
Uptown Entertainment & Development Corporation (UEDC) mission is to stimulate the economy in blighted areas in Philadelphia by creating commercial enterprises, neighborhood revitalization and management of moderate and low-income housing.
Description
UEDC is a community development corporation, incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1995, received its 501c3 tax-exempt status in 2002, and registered with Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations since 2004. UEDC has identified the historic Uptown Theater, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as its first acquisition and revitalization project. Development plans include renovating the theater as an entertainment venue, creating a museum dedicated to preserving Black music, developing a technology center, and providing commercial leasing space in the proposed Entertainment and Education Tower. Other UEDC projects / programs include:
- a Job Bank for construction workers
- Uptown Youth Got Talent for job readiness, audio/video production, and performing arts
- commercial corridor Cleaning and Beautification
- African American Heritage Tour / Historic Trail
UEDC also serves as the Registered Community Organization for North Central Philadelphia in conjunction with the City Planning Commission's Citizen Planning Institute
