Purpose: To engage the client and residents in meaningful activities to enrich their lives.
Requirements:
- Knowledgeable and proficient to work with groups
- Understanding of older adults possible cognitive and physical limitations
- Knowledge and understanding of project requirements and process
- Recognize situations that requires staff intervening
Responsibilities:
- Sign in and out in the volunteer log every visit
- Assure all residents and clients interested in participating are accommodated and comfortable
- Adequate pre-planning
- Coordinate with site staff regarding activity needs
- Keep or assist in acquiring "sign in" sheet for the activity
- Monitor the understanding and involvement of the participants
- Assist those needing additional support
- Maintain the privacy of residents and do not disclose confidential information
- Clean area and return room to pre-activity configuration
- Discuss with staff any observations or recommendations with regard to this activity
- Notify your supervisor immediately if any injury, fall, change in condition or concern about any resident- assist with incident report as necessary
Time Commitment:
- This maybe a one- time even, or a recurrent event ie. per week, per month, per year
- Time commitment includes prep for the event (on and off site as necessary), event time, and clean- up
