This is annual fundraiser event to help provide financial assistance to rescues and families in financial crisis for extraordinary veterinary expenses. Last year we had 1000 people in attendance with over 500 dachshunds and we are hoping for much more this year. We need at least 500 fun loving dog loving volunteers. You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer. We can accept young teen volunteers, Age 16-17 yrs with signed parental permission. You must be responsible for your own transportation. Volunteers who donate at least 4 hours of their time during The Fest will receive a volunteer tshirt to be worn during The Fest. Shirts are unisex Small to 5X and will get free lunch.

(the "Foundation") is to raise awareness and educate dachshund owners and potential owners with respect to dachshund health and behavior, to offer rescue organizations, low-income families and families in financial crisis assistance when their dachshund is diagnosed with a treatable illness requiring expensive medical intervention to include life-sustaining medications, major medical, surgical intervention, rehabilitation and emergency vet care. Our motto is "supporting the dachshunds who own our hearts".

The Washington Metro DachtoberFest Foundation (WMDF) is organized as a nonprofit organization and IRS public charity under S ection 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its motto is Support the Dachshunds Who Own Our Hearts. Its mission is to raise awareness and educate dachshund owners about dachshund health, and to establish a fund to financially assist rescue organizations and low income familes with exraordinary veterinary treatment related to the family dachshund.
The WMDF DachtoberFest is a family oriented, pet friendly festival held annually in Frederick Maryland the First Saturday in October. The Fest promotes all things Dachshunds: Doxie Health, Doxie Rescue, Doxie Activities, and Doxie Fun.
DactoberFest an exciting annual event for all doxie lovers. The primary fundraising event of the WMDF, DachtoberFest continues to bring dachshund lovers together year after year to enjoy a day of family oriented doxie fun in an effort to help our dachshunds in their time of need.
DachtoberFest is SO MUCH FUN!!! So come out and enjoy a day where every doxie who owns your heart is the best in show! We sincerely hope that you will join us for the 2015 Washington Metro DachtoberFest at the e-ventplex, Home of the Great Frederick Fair, Frederick Maryland on the first Saturday October evry year unless there a hurricane.
