Care Communities provides volunteer Care Teams for persons living with serious illness especially HIV or Cancer. The Care Teams provide practical and emotional support, such as running errands, transportation to medical appointments, light housekeeping, and companionship. Each volunteer is asked for four hours a month. There is a 3 hour Volunteer Training to discuss the Care Team model, boundaries, confidentiality, etc.
Each interested person is asked to fill out an initial application and then have a brief phone interview before the training.
