Track and Field Coaches are needed at Recreation Centers in Minneapolis! Athletes range in age from 9 to 18 years old. The Minneapolis Park Board track and field program starts mid-May and ends in late June. Teams practice 1-2 times per week. Track meets are scheduled for one night a week. The Minneapolis Park Board will provide orientation for new coaches. Field events include: high jump, long jump, shot put/softall throw, and turbo javelin. Races include: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m.
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with a friend or 2. We can also pair individuals with similar interests.
Track meet helpers are also needed to help at the Thursday night track meets. Volunteers will help time running events and measure jumps and throws. No experience is necessary. Park staff will train and work with volunteers.
