Help St. Jude Heroes Cross the Finish Line - Rock 'n' Roll DC Marathon & Half Marathon

Runners from the Mid-Atlantic and across the U.S. have decided to take on the 2018 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon in support of the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They're called St. Jude Heroes and they are helping kids diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

As a volunteer for this race, you'll be ensuring that these runners have the best experience on race day. We need 60 or more volunteers to support our St. Jude water station along the half marathon course. The exact location of the water stop is TBD, but it will be in DC. Show our St. Jude Heroes some love, and encourage them to stay strong as they complete the half and full marathons!

Thank YOU for your support of the St. Jude mission that "no child should die in the dawn of life."

Mission Statement

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital opened in 1962 and was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to 80 percent today. In 1962, the survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer, was 4 percent. Today, the survival rate for this once deadly disease is 94 percent, thanks to research and treatment protocols developed at St. Jude.
