INTERNING AT ORCHARD: AFRICA

Here at Orchard: Africa, we're always looking for talented, faithful and passionate interns who are ready to change the world and are looking for a hands-on experience. We work hard to maintain a positive, fun, and uplifting culture where creativity, personality and individual growth are more than encouraged - they’re expected. In exchange for your hard work and dedication, you will get real work experience, strengthened professional skills, field experience, and design skills training.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You’re someone that wants to change the world and believes that the local church is the absolute best platform from which to do it. You love people and the church.

  • You’re a glass half-full person, who sees opportunity where others may see a challenge.

  • You’re someone with a passion to design - it’s more than a casual hobby, this is what you love to do and you’re really good at it.

  • You’re someone with a unique creativity who can also take direction without losing your creative spark.

  • You’re someone who wants to inspire others to action through your work.

  • You’re someone who doesn’t shy away from a deadline, but rather embraces it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You’ll maintain and grow the Orchard: Africa brand.

  • You’ll create highly engaging infographics, print material, website graphics & pages, email templates that do more than inform, they inspire.

  • You’ll brainstorm new ideas and innovative ways to engage our audiences through giving them great visual experiences.

  • You’ll work closely with the Development and Creative teams to build and execute effective fundraising & marketing collateral.

SKILLS:

  • You understand when less is more and clarity trumps quantity.

  • You can deal with the abstract, unknown, and unscripted.

  • You have experience in using Adobe’s Creative Suite, MailChimp, Keynote, Pages and other Mac applications.

  • Ability to write HTML & CSS a big plus!

  • You are a self starter and are always ready to bring something to the table.

COMMITMENT

We're currently looking for a student or recent graduate to start ASAP and join us through August. We'll need you for 10-20 hours per week, 2-3 days a week. Flexible scheduling is available. Please only apply if you are located in the Greater Phoenix area. This position can work remote, but there’s a big upside to being able to work from our awesome office in Chandler.

COMPENSATION

This is an unpaid internship - but is an exceptional opportunity to gain experience at an international non-profit with an ambitious mission. We will gladly work with your institution to give you academic credit for your experience.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop and equip the local church to be the response to poverty and injustice. The church is our platform, programs are our tools and hope in Christ is our message.

Description

Orchard: Africa exists to empower both the church in Southern Africa as well as the Western church to find sustainable and Christ-centered solutions to the poverty and injustice and their outworking in Southern African communities.

We want to see vulnerable communities implement projects that grow from meeting the daily needs of survival to village-led sustainable projects. We want to see churches becoming innovative and inventive in their ability to meet real needs. It is our intention that equipped church pastors and leaders will exceed the expectations of the training that we can provide - no longer needing us for their survival. We can then start the cycle over in other vulnerable communities.

Our goal is to empower pastors and village leaders with the skills to provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to the vulnerable in their own communities. Empowered and equipped pastors who feel that they can provide help - not only to their own congregation but to their communities at large. Our role is to provide these leaders with the tools; their role is to actively lead their communities in sustainable projects that restore hope.
