Join the Skinny Gene Project this March for one of San Diego’s greatest local charity fundraisers. The San Diego Half Marathon attracts more than 8,000 participants each year who become apart of the community’s helping hand. With a 100% of net proceeds going to local causes, you can feel good about running or volunteering knowing you have helped make a difference.
This event is especially important to us at the Skinny Gene Project, as we are the only organization in the county to be fully recognized by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to help San Diegans prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. In San Diego alone, 46% of our population has prediabetes, making them at risk for developing full-blown type 2 diabetes within the next few years.
We strongly stand behind our message - Educate, Empower, Prevent type 2 diabetes. We want to extend access and opportunity for every San Diegan to receive the necessary lifestyle intervention to fight diabetes.
We need your help to make this possible so that all San Diegans can enjoy the quality of life in this city we all know and love.
Volunteers will be responsible for setting up and breaking down a water station at mile 10.8, where we will encourage runners and pass out waters. Volunteers are also urged to run or walk the half marathon signing up under the group name: Skinny Gene Project.
