ORGANIZATION: Passion For Life, Inc

Passion for Life, Inc, is a 501C (3) non-profit organization; we are seeking a part-time Volunteer Grant Writer position is responsible for contributing to the diversity of Passion for Life Inc.'s funding through identifying opportunities, drafting, and submitting and defending successful grant applications.

This volunteer role includes increasing mission awareness of Passion for Life Inc.'s services and programs among granting entities to increase success rates in securing financial support through grants for services, programs and resources.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to the following):

  • Proactively search for government, foundation, and social enterprise related grant opportunities.

  • Identify good fit between Passion for Life Inc. program needs and the granter.

  • Work closely with Passion for Life Inc. and Board of Directors, Marketing Committee, and Fundraising Committee in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals.

  • Manage deadlines and deliverables and keeps all involved parties on schedule.

  • Assist with assembling documents as necessary (e.g., organizational grants, annual/occasional reports, progress reports for grants admin., etc.).

  • Perform technical, analytical and professional tasks in regards to collected data, incorporating them as needed into grant proposals.

  • Assist in the determination of measurable goals, objectives and procedures necessary to fulfill each grant expectation.

  • Assist in substantiating the need for identified programs and services in the community that the funding sources are supporting.

  • Measurement and assessment skills: objectivity, critical thinking, problem solving, curiosity, inquisitiveness, research methodology, knowledge management, on-line search skills.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years proven successful experience writing grants within the government, not-for-profit, human service and/or social enterprise.

  • Bachelor’s degree desired.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

  • Excellent grammar, spelling, writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Valid, current license and insurance, reliable transportation and a good driving record.

  • A high degree of sensitivity toward at-risk families and youth.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with department heads to achieve a common goal.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Passion for Life, Inc. offers a four-year afterschool career coaching program at Therrell High School teaching at-risk students life skills, as well as helping them identify and develop their passions and talents. Our holistic programs include using Executive Style Life Coaching, Career Exploration, Leadership and Talent Development, and Dream Building.
