Trainer Position Description
Summary: Trainers are responsible for scheduling and facilitating adult trainings
Support: The Trainer receives support, guidance, and encouragement from the Adult Learning Manager
Required Training: Facilitating Adult Learning, Topic specific related trainings and certifications
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate trainings in assigned areas of expertise.
- Collaborate with Adult Learning Manager to establish training schedule and secure locations for membership year.
- Maintain current certifications necessary to lead trainings as applicable.
- Consult with Adult Learning Manager to ensure proper curriculum is being utilized to facilitate trainings and to learn about curriculum updates as needed.
- Submit training attendance, financial receipts and other documents to Adult Learning Manager in a timely manner after training session has ended.
- Timely response to communication regarding trainings inclusive of calls, emails, and Adult Training Rallyhood group postings.
- Participate in scheduled meetings such as Trainers Retreat. When attendance is not possible, provide any necessary information needed from the trainer and inquire as to any pertinent or updated information shared at meeting.
- Be a good steward of the training budget
- If desired, assist in developing/designing training programs as needed
- Remain informed about and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of GSWCF and GSUSA including Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints, inclusive of utilizing current training designs.
- Promote a positive attitude regarding Girl Scouting, volunteers, girls, staff, and the council
- Mentor and assist new trainers in areas of expertise as needed
- Be guided in all actions by the Girl Scout Mission, Promise, and Law.
Qualifications
- Must become a registered member of GSUSA, either lifetime membership or yearly renewal
- Must complete a volunteer application and background screening that must be renewed every three years
- Complete required training within three months of appointment as assigned and provided by GSWCF
- Accept the goal of Girl Scouting to promote inclusiveness
- Work well with girls and other adults
