The Bridge to Hope (B2H) engages local Christian churches in helping to end homelessness for single mothers and their children. The B2H is a three-way partnership between trained staff, one homeless, single mother and her children, and a trained, church-based mentoring group of 8 to 12 mentors from a local Christian faith community. Through use of this model, B2H seeks to promote physical, emotional, social and spiritual wholeness.

The role of the church is to create a support system for the family that goes beyond the working relationship that the B2H staff can offer. The church disciples their B2H family, socializes with them, learns who they are beyond being homeless and are examples of how to live successful lives. One of the most detrimental aspects of poverty and homelessness is the negative environment that surrounds such conditions. Families coming from that background are lifted out of that atmosphere and surrounded by positively and the endless possibilities that come with faith and hope!

Partnering churches also make it possible for B2H to serve more families by supporting our ministry through financial giving, mentoring a family and prayer. The church, individual and corporate donations help sponsor families financially through the program as each mother gets on her feet and finds stability.

Create a mentoring Church Team to support a homeless family emotionally and spiritually as they navigate from homelessness to wholeness, or join a team from our many partnering church communities. Members of La Casa de Cristo are asked to call The Bridge to Hope, 602-589-5556 today, YOU can do this!

Mission Statement

The Mission of The Bridge to Hope: To help homeless families achieve spiritual wholeness and emotional, physical and financial well-being by overcoming self-defeating behaviors with Christ as our foundation.

Description

The vision of The Bridge to Hope is to end homelessness One Family at a Time by equipping the church to take a vested interest in a single mother and her children in crisis, a family that has lost hope and direction.

The Bridge to Hope provides an avenue for churches to motivate their members to show Christ’s love and give hope to homeless women and their children, facilitating their recovery from homelessness. Part of this is through seeing that they get the essential education and/or training to get a job, so that within approximately two years they can become self-supporting. This is a concept of One Church One Family. Those who are called to step forward in faith to mentor the B2H family are what we call "a team". These teams of mentors work directly with their sponsored B2H family. The mothers live in apartments that are in close proximity to each other, rented by The Bridge to Hope. They have regular times of fellowship with their mentoring team.

Our target population is homeless single mothers (drug-free and alcohol-free) with minor children under the age of 10, who are physically and emotionally capable of becoming employed full-time. Currently, the number of families served is five. Historically, we have served approximately 8 - 12 families a year with the capacity to serve one family for up to 24 months. The Bridge to Hope’s ministry is presently limited to Phoenix, Arizona.
