ORGANIZATION: Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan

Gleaners received a grant from Feeding America, funded by Walmart, for a 14’ refrigerated truck to help increase food donations in Monroe County. Area grocery stores including Walmart, Kroger, Meijer and Aldi have healthy fresh produce and other good food to donate, but the freshness clock is ticking. We have the truck, and the food donors are lined up, but we are short on drivers. NO CDL REQUIRED! We also need help delivering food to partners in Monroe County. Here are the times:

Mondays 8 am - 11 am on-call for pick-ups; only come in if called

Tuesday 8 am - 12 noon (or a two-hour portion of that time) for pick-ups

Thursday 8 am - 12 noon (or a two-hour portion of that time) for pick-ups

Fridays 8 am - 11 am on-call for pick-ups; only come in if called

Fridays 10 am - 3 pm produce deliveries

Drivers must agree to a criminal background and driving record check - no expense to volunteers.

Please give serious consideration to this request. Your volunteer service will quite literally mean the difference between food getting to someone’s table rather than having the food go to waste.

For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities." Last year, Gleaners distributed 42 million pounds of emergency food to 499 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties.


Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 97 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
