Coaches are needed year round for a variety of sports in Seattle Parks and Recreation. Volunteers play vital roles in the implementation of sports program at the various community centers.

Primary responsibility and task include:

  • Plan/Coordinate practice schedule
  • Facilitate team practices 1 or 2 times per week
  • Manage team roster and meet submission deadlines
  • Maintain positive relationships w/ parents, players and staff

Track and Field Coaches are needed at Community Centers throughout the City. This posting is for Garfield Community Center, but if you would like to volunteer to coach at your local Community Center, please reach out to the Center Coordinator at that location for details about their needs.

Track and Field Season (Girls and Boys) - March through June

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of track and field, and running/fitness best practices
  • Ability to teach, motivate and work with youth in a positive atmosphere
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Encourage good sportsmanship and model that behavior
  • Must pass an annual criminal background check

In this role you will:

  • Provide a fun atmosphere that is inclusive and positive
  • Become a mentor to the next generation
  • Be a part of instilling team building skills and a sense of community

Seattle Parks and Recreation - Central Recreation consists of Montlake, Miller, Garfield, Yesler, and Queen Anne Community Centers. In addition, Central Recreaion provides support for the new Belltown Community Center scheduled to open in June of 2012.
