Young Athletes program Coach

Time Commitment & Training:

This individual must be able to commit to the full duration of the event as scheduled. If unable to commit, please do not select this position.

General Description

Assist the Program Director in maintaining the flow and integrity of Young Athlete Program. Orientation will be provided on-site day of the event.

Duties & Responsibilities

Possible positions include:

  • Serve as a Young Athlete escort through the various sport/motor stations
  • Check in athletes and/or volunteers
  • Work specifically with a sport/motor station as directed by Program Director

Skills & Qualifications

Excellent verbal communication is a must, as well as ensuring professional and friendly service, including the ability to multitask and respond quickly to changes in schedules and plans.

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Generally the job requires 70% walking, 25% standing, and 5% sitting. Must be able to stand and walk the majority of the volunteer shift.

Special Olympics New Jersey provides sports training to athletes through local school, agency and community programs that compete on the Area (county), Sectional and Chapter levels in 24 sports throughout all four sports seasons.
