Join us as we prep seeds for Solid Ground’s Lettuce Link program. Solid Ground’s Lettuce Link program envisions a city where people have equal access to healthy and culturally appropriate food. We work with and in communities to grow and share food that is fresh and nourishing.
Solid Ground is supplying us with seeds in bulk (i.e. a 10 lb bag of cilantro), and then we will repackage them into small envelopes for distribution at food banks in the spring. We will be getting together, getting the job done, and having a great time doing it.
Our Nonprofit Partner that this event supports: Solid Ground
Why you are needed: In 2016, Lettuce Link passed out seeds, starts and gardening information to over 2,500 food bank visitors at 20 sites in Seattle. They buy culturally appropriate seeds - such as cilantro, bok choy and beets - and distribute them to food bank guests and gardeners on low incomes next spring. This is an opportunity for people to increase their food security and access to fresh vegetables. They could not do this without the help of volunteer seed packers!
Age Requirement: 21+

Mission Statement
The World is Fun (TWIF) is dedicated to making volunteering fun & social for Seattle people, businesses & nonprofits by creating, promoting and expanding charitable events.
Description
We’re not your grandparents’ charitable club. We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization here to make volunteering a fun and social experience for Seattle people, businesses, and nonprofits. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scope of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun!
TWIF works within Seattle communities to create new opportunities for people to give back in a way that is social and philanthropic. We connect people to volunteer activities that fit each individual’s interests, passions, and busy schedules while introducing them to a new network of friends.
