This is an opportunity to be the change you want to see in the world. Join the Board of Directors of WriterCoach Connection, a leading educational nonprofit organization committed to empowering young people in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties through the promotion of critical thinking and clear writing skills. Since our inception in 2001, WriterCoach Connection has provided one-on-one coaching to more than 30,900 middle and high school students in four school districts. Each year, over 600 coaches support teachers' assignments by working with more than 2,000 students in 70+ classrooms.

Our Mission: We believe that critical thinking and clear writing skills are essential for a young person to succeed in school and beyond. With that in mind, WriterCoach Connection sends rigorously trained volunteer coaches into East Bay classrooms and after-school programs to engage, encourage and inspire students to develop fundamental skills that will prepare them for productive and meaningful lives.

Statement of Purpose: WriterCoach Connection is dedicated to helping youth of all backgrounds and circumstances find their identity and discover their potential as clear, thoughtful communicators. All young people, regardless of their skill value, benefit significantly from the personal attention and individualized coaching provided by our caring, trained volunteers coaches.

We're looking for individuals who believe in our mission and purpose and have a track record of board participation. WriterCoach Connection board members are counted on for mission-based leadership and strategic governance. and their willingness and ability to leverage their position in the community on behalf of the organization.
