Do you love horses? Want a way to serve your community and the animals in it? Want to be around horses, fun people, and get "Barn Fit"? We need daily volunteers!

TO BECOME A SUNSHINE VOLUNTEER, go to our website, www.sunshinehorses.com, fill out the Volunteer Application on the Volunteer page and we will contact you to attend our Orientation and Tour. There are two shifts per day, about 7:30-10:30 am and about 4:30-7:30 pm. Help is especially needed during the weekdays. We have a Training Program and will teach you what you need to know. We need people to feed and care for our herd.

Duties included: feeding, haltering, leading horses, mucking stalls, cleaning and filling water buckets, and grooming.

Men, women, and families, please consider giving some of your time to a worthy cause. Our volunteers range from 16-80+ years old. There is a way for all to help. No experience needed- We will train you. Children 16 and under must have a parent present.

Are you handy with tools or machinery? We could use your "handyman/handywoman" skills in maintaining our barn. Lots of odd jobs need attention. Repairing and painting fences is an ongoing project that requires attention all year long.

Do you have horse riding experience? Are you interested in becoming a trainer? We are always looking for experienced horse people to help us retrain and rehome our herd.

In addition to our basic daily need for volunteers, we could also use behind-the-scenes help with fundraising, event planning, and administrative help... AND ALWAYS need financial support too. We have a lot of horses- currently in their late 20's and 30's and costs are high for care. Please consider a donation.

We are located at 3711 Verplank Rd, Clay, New York. Easy to get to from Rt.481, near Great Northern Mall. Please check us out at www.sunshinehorses.org for more information.

Description

Just as crucial to our mission of helping horses is our mission of helping people. Sunshine works with many different community organizations and agencies within the Syracuse area. Through youth and adult volunteer programs, we draw upon the strengths each participant brings to Sunshine and seeks to provide personal growth and enrichment. Many program participants face unique challenges of their own and can empathize and create a special bond with our horses as they help prepare the horse for adoption.
