The Lupus Society of Illinois (LSI) is looking for volunteers for the 2017 Chicago Illinois Lupus Walk & Fun Run! Volunteers can come as individuals or in a group, so bring your friends, family and anyone else you can think of to help.
Volunteer Positions:
- Route Marshals - Direct walkers along the route
- Registration - Help to register walkers
- Photographer - Taking picture of the event and the people
- Raffle - Helping to sell raffle tickets
- Sales - Helping to sell items
- Water Stations - Passing out water to walkers
- Food/Refreshments - Passing out food & water
- Children's Tent - Helping with activities for children that includes face painting & managing games
Illinois Lupus Walks are conducted throughout Illinois by the LSI to raise money for lupus research, increase public awareness about lupus and generate support for those who suffer from its potentially devastating challenges. Each year, thousands of people join forces with the LSI and walk with one unified purpose - achieve our mission. To date over 40,000 participants have walked in the Illinois Lupus Walk events.

Mission Statement
The Lupus Society of Illinois' mission is to promote lupus awareness and complement the work of healthcare professionals by providing personalized resources for the lupus community while supporting research.
With the help of informed volunteers, lupus medical experts, and committed and caring supporters LSI can:
- Support research and conduct education programs so everyone affected bylupus can have an improved quality of life
- Provide information to ensure people with lupus and their families get answers and health professionals know about new means to diagnose and manage the disease
- Conduct activities to increase awareness of lupus, rally public support for those who are affected by lupus, and advocate on their behalf
Description
The Lupus Society of Illinois (LSI), formed in 1973, is the Midwest's leading non-profit health organization dedicated to finding the causes and cure for lupus.
The LSI provides free services to lupus patients and their family members in Illinois. We offer support groups, educational events, individual peer support, educational material, attendance at health fairs, an advocacy network and updated communications.
