SATURDAY, 2/15/2025

**ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE AGE 21+**

Please review the positions below (CLICK READ MORE TO SEE ALL) and:
  1. Confirm you are over age 21
  2. Tell us which position you prefer (We do our best to accommodate your choice but appreciate if you can be flexible)
  3. Confirm your availability for the hours indicated for the position you have requested.
  4. If you have not already provided your email and phone, please do so.
WILL CALL SET UP 9:30am-12:00pm Unload, set up pop up tents, tables, chairs, decorations, etc. Location: Maple Street Plaza
STUFFING SWAG BAGS 10:30am-12:30pm Stuff Swag Bags with tasting cups, etc Location: Maple Street Plaza
ID CHECKERS (must be age 21+) 11:30am-2:00pm Location: Will Call Check-In at Maple Street Plaza

WINE/BEER POURERS: (must be age 21+)
10:30am-5:15pm
12 Volunteers needed to pour wine, beer or champagne in one of our Tasting Locations for 350 festival attendees. Must take mandatory 15 minute ABC required Responsible Beverage Service Training Class on the morning of the event at Maple Street Plaza at 10:30am.

CHOCOLATE SERVERS:
11am-5:15pm
12 Volunteers needed to serve chocolate at one of our Tasting Locations for 350 festival attendees.

DOOR MONITORS: (must be age 21+)
11:00am-5:15pm
10 Volunteers needed to monitor door to ensure no one leaves business with alcohol

WILL CALL ASSISTANTS: (must be age 21+)
11:00am-3pm
2 Volunteers need to assist at the "Will Call" station to check ID's and Check-in 350 pre-paid guests.
(This Will Call position is located outdoors under a tent, so please dress according to weather conditions. )

WILL CALL TAKE DOWN 5:00pm-6:00pm Unload, set up pop up tents, tables, chairs, decorations, etc. Location: Maple Street Plaza

This event typically attracts 350 attendees with an average age of 25-60 from Escondido and neighboring cities. Both couples, as well as groups of friends with "Sweet Tooth’s" are drawn to this event. They are chocolate eating, often wine & beer drinking, friendly people who like to experience something different, all the while, supporting small local businesses. Thank you, in advance, for helping spread the word about this fun and exciting event!

Description

The Escondido Downtown Business Association is comprised of volunteers and Downtown Escondido Business owners. Meetings are held with local merchants to discuss and resolve various improvements and issues in the downtown area. Events are held in order to promote the downtown businesses as well as generate funds to improve the downtown area in matters of beautification, aesthetics, lighting, parking, safety, etc. A few of our events include the Escondido Street Festival (Spring), Grand Avenue Festival (Fall), Escondido Tamale Festival, For The Love of Chocolate, Escondido Chocolate Festival and The Wedge, Escondido Cheese Festival.

Community Volunteers are needed from time to time to help with these events. Please contact us to see where you can best be utilized. We're thankful to our volunteers and excited to work with you!

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Driver's License Needed
  • Must be at least 21
  • Orientation or Training
  • Different times as indicated in job description with most starting at 10am and ending at 5:30pm.
  • Must be able to stand for fairly long periods of time. Will Call is an outdoor location but most Chocolate Servers, Wine/Beer Pourers and Security positions will be located inside of a designated retail, restaurant or other downtown location.
