ORGANIZATION: The Museum Of Flight

The Museum of Flight will be offering visitors an interesting and engaging tour of King County International Airport/Boeing Field from May 6 th through October 28 th 2017. This is the only airport in the United States providing this type of tour- especially of a premier airport! The tour will focus on the history of the airport and region and provide information about flight and airport operations. The tours start and finish at the Museum and are available on Saturdays and Sundays only. There are 2-3 tours per shift (subjective to change). Volunteers must enjoy working with people, be enthusiastic about the Museum, aviation and KCIA/Boeing Field, have experience in making presentations/giving tours to the public and are willing to acquire or enhance knowledge of KCIA/Boeing Field through organized training and available research materials.

Please note:Tour Guides and Tour Drivers must commit to two shifts per month for the entire season. Volunteers must attend classroom instruction in March and driving practice tours in April and be willing to work as both guides and drivers.

Tour Guide
Tour Guides must be proficient in delivering the tour in an engaging, factual, and humorous manner suitable for guests of all ages and backgrounds. Guides must have good mobility, be able to sit in a vehicle for 1-3 hours, speak fluent English, maintain a neat personal appearance, and adhere to the established dress code.

Tour Driver
Tour Drivers are responsible for the safe conduct of the tour van around the airfield circuit and, as such, must constantly be on alert for other traffic (vehicles and aircraft) as well as communications from the KCIA/BFI Tower. Drivers must have a valid Washington State driver’s license, an excellent driving record, pass the KCIA airfield driving test, have outstanding hearing, and be able to communicate with and take direction from the Tower over a transceiver radio. Drivers must have good mobility and be able to sit in a vehicle for 1-3 hours, maintain a neat personal appearance, and adhere to the established dress code.
