Saturday Academy Administrative Volunteer
Position Summary: Administrative Volunteers will aid in office tasks at Saturday Academy’s main office on the University of Portland’s campus. Some tasks may be completed remotely. Duties may vary depending on our classes/camp schedules. This volunteer work is held during work day hours, however special volunteer days may be hosted on weekends or after normal working hours. If you are passionate about helping youth succeed, and are eager to gain and practice your workplace skills, please join Saturday Academy as an office volunteer!
Responsibilities:
- Sort engineering Lego kits for our classes
- Data entry tasks for our various departments
- Sorting and preparing to mail out classes catalogs
- Assisting in classroom supply maintenance
- Effective computer skills, some knowledge of Excel and Word
Qualifications:
- Detail oriented
- Positive attitude and willing to take initiative
- Effective listening skills
- Must be 14 years or older to participate in this opportunity

Saturday Academy strives to engage all motivated young people, including those from under-represented communities, in hands-on, in-depth learning by connecting them to community experts as educators and mentors.
Description
The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
