There are folks with wonderful skills who might be reluctant to envision themselves in a board role. You may see board members as experts with lots of experience. In fact, the boards of all-volunteer organizations are among the best places in the world to gain experience and become an expert in managing people and organizations. We’re seeking people who are enthusiastic about our mission and open to growing as an individual.
Do you believe housing is a human right? If so, join our Board of Directors and be a part of creating Chicago's first Tiny Home Village for the homeless! We're in the start-up phase of our organization and need motivated individuals to grow our early-stage organization.
We're looking for Chicago based individuals with skill sets to fill (or grown into) these roles:
- Director of Community Outreach
- Development Director
ABOUT BOOTSTRAP VILLAGES
MISSION: Create and sustain longer term, transitional housing solutions for the unhoused combined with career and financial education.
VISION: By establishing replicable models of new & empowering structures for rebuilding lives with education and community involvement, Bootstrap Villages will create a nationwide network of safe, healthy, and drug-free environments where people can live with dignity, learn, and get their feet back under them to walk into a brighter future. We’ll do this by staying agile in our problem solving, and coordinating with local municipalities and their specific needs for our combined interest in preventing future homelessness.
OUR CULTUREOpen. A word that embodies humility, grace, and the willingness to learn. Our doors and our minds are open to those who want to shift the homeless paradigm by embracing the work necessary to change destructive attitudes and behaviors within our society, and if necessary, within ourselves.
CORE VALUESDIGNITY: All of humanity is worthy of respect. Give them radical acceptance. Remind them of their true value and worth. Treat them not as they are, but as the person they could become.
COMMUNITY: Create environments of trust strong enough to rebuild lives. Balance privacy with cooperation. Unite with our common, deep-felt concerns about home, family, and neighborhood.
SUSTAINABILITY: In it for the long haul. Our planet and our checkbook require a mindset of continual evaluation, experimentation, and re-evaluation of solutions.
