Alternatives For Girls helps homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and helps them to explore and access the support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives.
Alternatives For Girls (AFG) will be hosting a series of debate workshops in the month of Feburary to expose young women in its after-school program to structured debate. Workshops will take place on Tuesdays begining February 7th and ending February 28th from 5-7:30 p.m. AFG is seeking volunteers with experience debating or facilitating debate or lawyers/law students who have experience constructing arguments, researching, etc.

Description
Alternatives For Girls (AFG) is a Detroit-based 501(c)3 nonprofit serving homeless and high-risk girls and young women. Since 1987, AFG has provided critical services to the girls and young women we serve, including safe shelter, street outreach and educational support, vocational guidance, mentoring, prevention activities, and counseling. The goal is to empower the girls and young women we serve to make positive choices.
