Project: VISION

  • 5 people are interested

Project: VISION (www.projectvisionchicago.org) is a small grassroots nonprofit organization serving youth ages 12-18, who are primarily from lower-income, first generation immigrant families, in Chicago's Chinatown, Bridgeport, and surrounding communities. We serve 200 students each school year through tutoring, mentoring, college and career readiness, service learning, and leadership training programs.

We want to be able to serve even more community youth and meet more of their diverse needs. To accomplish this, we are working to grow our fundraising efforts. We are seeking volunteers to serve as:

-Silent Auction Committee members (event in October 2018)
-Chinatown 5K Committee members (event on July 14, 2018)
-Chinatown Dragon Boat Race for Literacy Committee members (event on June 23, 2018)
-Small events committee members (various events)

Volunteers will serve on the committee alongside the organization's Board members, Associate Board members, and staff.

Useful experience/skills/traits include: fundraising, events planning, project management, and marketing

Time commitment varies depending on the project, but volunteers can expect to spend an average of 20 hours per month on meetings, communications (phone calls, emails etc), and other event coordination activities. The time requirement may increase closer to the event date.
