Special Service Legacy Volunteers are those who choose to work from home, providing crafting of life legacy projects for our patient/families in the local Chicagoland area.
We are in need of talented individuals to sew Memory Bears and Memory Pillows. These beautiful gifts are crafted from material supplied from our patient families and are a life long memory of loved ones who have passed. Nothing says we care more than a handmade legacy gift from a volunteer.
Volunteers who can quilt/knit/crochet or craft fleece lap blankets or prayer shawls are also needed.
Becoming a Special Service Volunteer and participating in our Hands To Hearts Program is simple! An application, interview, and confidentiality agreement is all that is required. We will also need a photo sample of your work.
If you are crafty and looking to keep your hands and heart busy, please consider us. Our Volunteer Director would love to talk with you!

APEX Hospice and Palliative Care seeks to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families who are facing a terminal illness. We focus on quality of life by providing comfort, company and active treatment of distressing symptoms, with the patient and their family as the focus of care. Services are provided by a team of professionals and volunteers who are physician directed and nurse coordinated. Comfort and coping resources are provided to the family for up to 13 months following the death of their loved one. "Family" is patient defined, and may include friends, significant others, life partners and relatives by blood or marriage. It is the expectation of APEX Hospice and Palliative Care that all employees and volunteers are strongly committed to the dignity and worth of each individual human being. Integrity and responsibility are expected conduct in all contacts with patients, families, other service providers, coworkers and the public.
We'll work with your schedule.
