Get outside, dig in the dirt, and help create a more sustainable community for all!
Join The Watershed Project and other community volunteers on the Richmond Greenway for our monthly Second Saturday event. We plant and tend to unique Low Impact Design projects that not only construct beautiful park landscapes but also filter pollutants out of the stormwater.
Activities might include:
Planting in our Habitat Garden, Bioswale, Native Grassland, or Rain Garden
Tree planting
Removal of invasive plants
Mulching to protect soil
Propagation
Tending to native plants
And more!
Free snacks and water will be provided. Please remember to bring a reusable water bottle. Wear sturdy shoes and prepare to get dirty. Long sleeves and pants can be helpful when dealing with some weeds, but it can get warm, so dress in layers.
The event will continue rain or shine; if it is raining, we can see the rain garden and bioswale in action!
Everyone will need to sign a liability waiver, and if under 18 a parent or legal guardian signature is required - please contact us if you would like to receive the waiver ahead of time by email.
The meeting location is on the Greenway where 7th St. dead ends into the Greenway. The best access points are from 6th St. or 8th Street where they cross the Greenway, near the intersection with Ohio St. If you are looking up directions on the internet, the intersection of 6th and Ohio will get you there, or use Lincoln Elementary School, Richmond - it is on 6th St. and the Greenway also.
Contact us with any questions. We can also schedule weekday opportunities for groups of 10 or more.
See you on the Greenway and come have fun!
