If you believe in equality and are passionate about girls' and women's issues, this is the event to volunteer at!
On Saturday, January 21st, there will be Women's Marches across the country, including the Bay Area. Alliance for Girls will be hosting a booth at the Oakland march in Frank Ogawa Plaza throughout the day, highlighting all the amazing organizations and programs in the Bay Area that support girls and young women.
We need 1-2 volunteers during each of the following 2-hour shifts:
- 9:30am - 11:30am
- 11:15am - 1:15pm
- 1:00pm - 3:00pm
We can provide light snacks and drinks for all volunteers.
The Women's March is a national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all. We stand together in solidarity for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. (More info: https://womensmarchbayarea.org)
This is the perfect opportunity to get engaged in the community and stand in solidarity with tens of thousands of people to find healing and strength through tolerance, civility, and compassion.

Mission Statement
Alliance for Girls mobilizes girls’ champions to address barriers facing girls, create conditions for their success, and advance systemic change to achieve equity. Our vision is to advance equitable communities in which every girl thrives.
Description
We are the largest regional alliance of girl-serving organizations and leaders in the country. Our membership includes 100+ organizations that employ 2,400 people with more than 5,100 volunteers serving more than 300,000 girls across six Bay Area counties.
The issues facing girls and young women are complex and multi-faceted. Alliance for Girls (AFG) is transforming the girls’ service sector from one of siloed, single-issue organizations, to a strong, connected network of organizations, with the necessary complexity and collective power to holistically meet girls’ needs and eliminate systemic barriers to their success.
Together we’re enabling new, integrated models for supporting girls with strong leadership, collaborative programming, original research and intergenerational, cross-disciplinary advocacy strategies.
We Believe:
- That those closest to the problem are closest to the solution
- In moving beyond the gender binary
- That diverse leadership is more effective leadership
- In the power of the collective
