Mission Statement

The mission of the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum is to celebrate the artistic legacy of Marshall M. Fredericks through collecting, preserving, presenting, and interpreting his life’s work for the educational and cultural enrichment of Saginaw Valley State University and the broadest possible audience. Through the Marshall Fredericks objects collection and archives, temporary exhibitions, publications, and education programs, the Museum contributes to scholarly discourse and serves diverse audiences.

Description

The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum features a unique collection of more than two thousand works that span the 70-year career of Detroit-based public sculptor Marshall M. Fredericks (1908-1998).

The Main Exhibit Gallery displays an extraordinary collection of more than 200 works that span Fredericks’s career.

When Marshall Fredericks died in 1998, clay models, armatures, molds, sculptures, machinery, tools, equipment, and personal and professional files from his home and studio were donated and housed in a gallery known as the "Sculptor’s Studio," a representation of Fredericks’s studio in Royal Oak, MI.

The Jo Anne & Donald Petersen Sculpture Garden is a place where people come to reflect, relax, socialize, have lunch, and enjoy the sites of beautiful bronze sculptures and botanical beds, and the sounds of water created by the Day and Night Fountain and the Otter Pool.

The Museum hosts about 3 temporary exhibitions during the year. Visit this link for more information on past, current and upcoming exhibitions. http://marshallfredericks.org/exhibitions-2/
