Ocean Science Explorers Program

Ocean Discovery Institute is an award-winning science education organization that works with San Diego’s most underserved elementary, middle, and high school students to promote science and environmental stewardship.

Ocean Science Explorers (OSE) is a school and field-based educational initiative that provides early and continued exposure to ocean science. Students and teachers participate in Ocean Science Explorers from the third through sixth grades.

Position Overview:

  • Assist with hands-on science lessons for underserved youth
  • Assist with outdoor field experiences at the Birch Aquarium and Torrey Pines
  • Lessons focused on Earth Science (geology, climate change, renewable energy)

Position Commitment:

  • One weekday morning per week (approx. 5 hours) mid-January through June
  • Attend training:
    • Thursday, January 12 th, 4:00-7:00pm
    • Second training TBD
