WE’RE PROUD TO BE PART OF THE MAYOR’S WEEK OF COMPASSIONATE SERVICE
In 2014, the city council signed the International Charter for Compassion, designating Fort Worth as a Compassionate City. To guide the city toward becoming an even greater and more compassionate city, Mayor Betsy Price is encouraging everyone to get involved in giving back!
The Mayor’s Week of Compassionate Service is January 21st-29th and we hope you will be involved.
United Way of Tarrant County will serve as a collection site for the items listed below. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to write veteran "Thank You" cards.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES:
DROP OFF A NEW CHILDREN’S BOOK (AGES 0-9) - New children's books ages (0-9) are needed for the annual Wilda About Reading event to be held in March. Books will be distributed to children to help encourage families to start their own home library.
COMMUNITY CLOTHING DRIVE - New clothing items are needed for the area homeless including t-shirts, socks, and underwear in all sizes for men, women and children. Items will be distributed to the needy in area homeless shelters.
VETERAN THANK YOU CARDS - Volunteers can write "Thank You" cards at one of the stations available in the United Way Board room. Cards will be distributed to veterans in hospice, nursing and rehabilitation centers as well as veteran clients with area community partners. Additional cards will be distributed to active military overseas on the front lines.
Together we can make positive, meaningful change in our community!
