Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts was established by artists & community activists with a shared vision to promote, preserve and develop the cultural arts that reflect the living tradition and experiences of the Chicano, Central & South American, and Caribbean people, and to make arts accessible as an essential element to community development and well-being.
MCCLA is a multicultural, multidisciplinary arts organization committed to the collaborative artistic vision of the Latino art forms. MCCLA provides the community with an arena in which to develop new artistic skills, as well as support local and established artists that serve their community. MCCLA collaborates with other arts, social and humanitarian groups to provide the widest range of programming possible.

The Media & Events Intern will be responsible for promoting the organization's classes and events through various social media networks. The intern will research, plan and execute strategy with the goal of building community awareness and engagement around MCCLA.

This is an unpaid position but it is a great opportunity for students and recent graduates interested in gaining event promotion and media skills.

The ideal candidate will possess experience or the capacity to learn the following qualities/characteristics:

  • Resourcefulness and willingness to self‐start on social media posts and projects to promote events through social media content including, but not limited to: website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

  • An understanding of and interest in historic and present elements of the Latino Arts as expressed in the US (dance, spoken word/poetry, film/video, music, theater)

  • Experience with event promotion

  • Familiarity with computers, internet research, MS Word, Excel

The Board of Directors, Management and Staff, share a commitment to providing quality and relevant art programs and services, and to working with community individuals and groups in the pursuit of this vision.
