Community Ambassadors are local volunteers that represent the City of Elk Grove. Their role is to serve as a community liaison, providing a direct point of communication with our residents and creating awareness of events and opportunities within our community. This position is a partnership between the City of Elk Grove, the Elk Grove Police Department, and the residents of Elk Grove.

Community Ambassadors help create strong dialogue and relationships between the residents and City of Elk Grove. You may take promotional materials to key locations, help staff a booth at a local festival, walk among the crowd at a parade, attend meetings / events through the city, and more!

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

- 18 years or old

- Citizen / legal resident of the United States

- Good moral character / no felony convictions

- Conduct themselves in a professional manner

- Commit to 4 hours / month and attend 4 meetings / trainings a year

The mission of the Elk Grove Police Department is to work in partnership with the community to protect life and property, solve neighborhood problems, and enhance the quality of life in our City.

The mission of the Elk Grove Police Volunteers is to support the department by providing non-enforcement services that allow sworn officers to focus on their primary mission of crime prevention and enforcement of state and city laws.

Description

The Elk Grove Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) are a team of trained citizen volunteers who assist the department with non-enforcement duties. Members do not take enforcement action, carry weapons, or make arrests.

Our VIPS allow the department to provide an even higher level of prompt, courteous service to all the citizens of Elk Grove.

The VIPS fill a variety of positions that support both the staff and the community. You can find volunteers in almost every division of the Police Department; their hard work allows sworn officials to focus on their primary mission of crime prevention.
