ORGANIZATION: Jumpstart Southern California

reading
A volunteer reading with children.

Jumpstart recruits volunteers to spend 2-4 hours reading and making crafts with children in underserved communities.

The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles will be hosting a resource fair at the Pueblo del Rio Housing Development, where families and children will be able to pass through to spend time gathering information and opportunities.

Jumpstart will be there to provide free books to children who come and read with our volunteers, and also make fun crafts that we will have available!

We welcome volunteer groups to sign up by emailing jasmin.salas@jstart.org.

Thanks for reading!

About Jumpstart Southern California

Location:

1625 W Olympic Blvd. Ste. 1050, Los Angeles, CA 90015, US

Mission Statement

Jumpstart is working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.

Description

Each year, one third of America's children arrive on their first day of school without the skills necessary to succeed at grade level. When children begin behind their peers, catching up, especially without additional assistance, is difficult and unlikely. By focusing on enriching the education of preschool students from disadvantaged communities, Jumpstart is making sure every child has a chance at success. Jumpstart is a national nonprofit dedicated to inspiring children to learn, adults to teach, families to get involved, and communities to progress together.
