Eliminate Racism. Empower Women.
Volunteer as a Counselor with YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley!

People of all genders & sexual orientations experience violence. Are you a caring, passionate, and talented individual with a desire to help eliminate racism and empower others? Together we can achieve equity & justice for all! Please apply to join our team of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence/Human Trafficking Counselors!

Every day, dedicated YWCA GGSV Volunteers help empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our volunteer counselors are caring, passionate, and talented. They answer calls to our Support Line, accompany individuals to hospitals, courts, and community locations, and provide information, advocacy and referral services. They conduct in-person counseling and co-facilitate groups for children. Their participation helps make it possible for survivors of all kinds, children, and families to flourish.

Bilingual Spanish-English speaking volunteers are in high need at the moment and will have their training fee waived with a minimum volunteering commitment of 100-200 hours (varies by program).

The steps to becoming a volunteer counselor include submitting an online application, completing an interview, and upon acceptance to the training, completion of the 75-hour SA/DV/HT Counselor Certification training. Clearance of a background check, and a negative TB test are also required.

Our volunteer positions also require proof of the COVID-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others at YWCA locations and our community.
