Do you have a couple of hours a week to help adult students transition into meaningful employment? Asian Human Services is looking for volunteers to assist students currently taking our "Advanced Computer Skills for Job Seekers" class improve their resume writing, search for employment opportunities online, and brush up on other important job readiness skills.
Our Literacy Education for Adults and Families (LEAF) program is located in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood, and we work closely with our volunteers to match them with the right students and make sure they have the training and support needed to succeed. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, especially those who are interested in employment and immigrant services. Working one-on-one with friendly, appreciative students, you will not only make a tangible impact on the lives of others, but also professionally develop your own hard and soft skills.
Tutoring typically occurs on Fridays (between 9 am-5 pm), though it is possible to schedule tutoring on other weekday afternoons. We kindly ask that volunteers commit to at least a 1-2 hours per week tutoring session from January until March (minimum). Building positive relationships with students includes making a consistent commitment--come join us in making a difference!
