El Salvador: Help Plant 100,000 Fruit Trees

Cause Areas

Sat Jul 01, 2017 - Sat Jul 08, 2017

North Avenue No. 50Residencial San CarlosSan Salvador, SV

Join the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation in El Salvador, a country where deforestation and soil erosion has had serious environmental, social, and economic impact. The rural population here is most greatly affected, with nearly one million Salvadorans living in poverty and more than 50 percent of El Salvador's land unsuitable for food cultivation.

Volunteers will help the foundation to bring the life-sustaining abundance that comes from fruit trees to the people of El Salvador. Orchards will be placed in low-income neighborhoods, schools, parks, orphanages, and town centers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work side by side with foundation staff as they educate community leaders on organic horticultural practices and how to reap the most benefit from the harvest.

Volunteers will have their hands in the dirt with school children as they learn about the importance of fruit trees for themselves, their communities, and for the earth. The foundation seeks volunteers with a deep respect for the environment and for the local cultures in which they plant.
