Join us in the FareStart Contract Kitchen! We will be preparing food alongside FareStart's chefs and students preparing food for shelters.
This is a hands-on kitchen opportunity. Come prepared to chop, stir, and get a little messy. The group will be guided by FareStart's trained chef so cooking skills are not required but participants should be comfortable using knives and other kitchen equipment as instructed.
Our Nonprofit Partner that this event supports: FareStart
Why you are needed: FareStart is a culinary job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Since 1992, FareStart has provided opportunities for nearly 7,000 people to transform their lives, while also serving over 6 million meals to disadvantaged men, women, and children.

Age Requirement: 18+
Event Sherpa: TBD - contact
How to find us: If you're standing in front of the restaurant looking at the front doors, you go to the right and walk down the building until you get to a set of doors with a sign that says student training and administration, you'll then have to call a number that's posted and someone in the kitchen will answer then come up and get you.
What to wear: Aprons will be provided however, you will get dirty so please wear clothes that you are not afraid to get a little dirty. Please wear long pants and comfortable, non-slippery, covered shoes and pull your hair back if possible. FareStart is a clean and sober community so it's probably best to leave your Budweiser hat at home.
Space is limited! Once you register for the event we will hold a space just for you. If for any reason you cannot attend your scheduled shift, please make sure to cancel your registration so someone else can take your spot!

Mission Statement
The World is Fun (TWIF) is dedicated to making volunteering fun & social for Seattle people, businesses & nonprofits by creating, promoting and expanding charitable events.
Description
We’re not your grandparents’ charitable club. We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization here to make volunteering a fun and social experience for Seattle people, businesses, and nonprofits. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scope of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun!
TWIF works within Seattle communities to create new opportunities for people to give back in a way that is social and philanthropic. We connect people to volunteer activities that fit each individual’s interests, passions, and busy schedules while introducing them to a new network of friends.
