Why: To reduce the number of injuries and fatalities from home fires, the Red Cross created a program called the Home Fire Campaign which installs smoke alarms for free in homes that need them and educating people about home fire safety. We know that a working smoke alarm cuts the risk of dying in a home fire in half.

This is a region-wide event and is part of the American Red Cross Martin Luther King Day of Service, with volunteers in multiple cities across our region helping to install smoke alarms for people that need them. We are targeting an area with about 500 homes and we will need approximately 100 volunteers for the San Antonio area.
